On a cold October day in southern Finland, five rule of law experts met on the sidelines of an international seminar and officially established an NGO to provide a platform for research, cooperation and discussions on how to encounter threats related to organised crime (OC) and corruption.
We wanted to create a hub for experts from diverse professional backgrounds to strengthen public awareness of threats and risks of OC and to participate in joint international efforts to enhance capabilities in fighting OC. Research Initiative on Organised Crime (RIOC) was later registered by the Finnish Patent and Registration Office on 14 November 2019.
