On 5 October 2020 RIOC participated in the OSCE Chairmanship conference “Addressing Organised Crime through Strategic Partnerships” and highlighted the necessity for a comprehensive approach. Conference programme was extremely interesting providing an opportunity share experiences among state representatives as well as participants from international organizations, think tanks and the private sector. The list of speakers was impressive. Mediterranean Partners gave profound presentations on current challenges in the fight against organized crime.
OiC/SG and Director of the CPC, Tuula Yrjölä, took up many of RIOC’s points in her conclusions including the role of civil society and investigative journalists. Albanian Chairmanship called for concrete action and a whole-of-government approach as LEAs and criminal justice systems cannot fight organised crime alone.
